Hōjicha Cookie Recipe

Our Signature Hōjicha Packet is 100g! We source this stone-milled powder straight from Shizuoka, Japan and wanted to share other ways to enjoy it besides as a latte. Check out our INSTAGRAM for a quick video on us making this recipe at home.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons of Hōjicha powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 6 tablespoons of oil (we recommend sunflower oil)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 chocolate chips (we used white chocolate chips)
DIRECTIONS:
- Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- Combine Hōjicha powder, sugar, and brown sugar into a large bowl.
- Add oil and stir. Then add milk and vanilla and mix together well.
- Sift flower mixture and stir until combined
- Fold in chocolate chips
- Cover and chill dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour (overnight is best)
- When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375° and line baking pan with parchment paper
- Scoop or roll 12 balls of cookie dough and placed on prepared baking sheet, leaving room between each cookie
- Chill each batch of cookies before baking for 10 minutes
- Bake for 10 minutes until the edges begin to set
- Let cookies rest on baking sheet for 10 minutes
- Transfer cookies to wire rack to cool and firm
- Enjoy!
